Rabbitritz

The First and Best Small Pet Hotel!

In Memory of Fizz - Site Manager

He rose from being a little silver dutch bunny with a broken leg to the manager of Rabbit Ritz. You all know him and loved him.

He had the leg amputated and he could resume racing around the garden at top speed. I have been inundated with cards and thank you so much.

Fizz had failing health. He had been living in a cat basket indoors for 8 months and on 20th August nothing seemed amiss. He roamed under the apple tree, nibbling on fallen leaves. Sunbathed next to his favourite pink teddy.

However, when I gathered him up for the evening I noticed his breathing laboured. I took him and basket and his teddy upstairs to beside my bed. We can get through this I thought. We have done it before. Unfortunately, I couldn’t win this one. Suddenly, from nowhere, he let out a shrill, little cry and started heavy breathing….I leapt from the bed and cradled his head, stroking his cheek and telling him how much I loved him and just to pass over, his time had come…..it was over in seconds and I wrapped him in a shawl, climbing back into  bed with him and letting my tears tumble down over his soft grey coat.

I am crying even as I write this and remember the scene. He stayed with me that night and the next, beside my bed. I just couldn’t give him up. Admitting that, so what, I don’t care what anyone thinks…it hurt!

A few visitors came to say their goodbyes but when it came to the last goodbye it had to be just Fizz and his mum.

He is buried in the huge pot at the top of the garden which has become a shrine to my beloved boy. Every time you come to Rabbit Ritz you will still pass the manager on duty. Alongside him I placed his teddy and his favourite bunny doughnuts and carrot sticks.

A candle is permanently lit alongside his photo…truly a legend who will never be forgotten and who will be waiting for me at the rainbow bridge……
